Here at Meekay Lee Arts one of the pieces that we have utter joy creating is the windchime, don’t get me wrong we love each and every piece we create. But there is just something that jumps out for us when a client tells us they want us to design a windchime for their home.
“Wind chimes are a type of percussion instrument constructed from suspended tubes, rods, bells, or other objects that are often made of metal or wood. The tubes or rods are suspended along with some type of weight or surface which the tubes or rods can strike when they or another wind-catching surface are blown by the natural movement of air outside.”
Our wind chimes are created from recycled glass bottles, why recycled glass bottles you may wonder? Our answer is simple, our love for the environment. When the world is having constant debates on how to safeguard the environment, we here at Meekay Lee Arts want to do our part and aid in the solution.
Did you know that in the process of creating glass, there is air pollution that is harmful to the environment? By recycling glass, we are able to overcome this; as recycled glass does not lose any of its quality. That means fewer natural resources are taken from the environment in coastal areas where erosion is a concern, which can mean more sand is left on the beach where it belongs, instead of being made into bottles and jars.
